Mike first reached out just a week before his planned elopement with Billie Kay. Luckily, I was available... and very willing!
We met at Hershey Gardens for their intimate wedding, joined by just two close friends. I had driven in from Reading, while they made the trip from York. Almost as soon as I parked my car, the skies opened up, and the rain started pouring. Had I even brought an umbrella? Thankfully, I had a few in my car and grabbed one before meeting up with everyone.
The weather kept us guessing the entire time. It poured, stopped, drizzled, gave us a few minutes of sunshine, and then started raining all over again. For their vow ceremony, we tucked ourselves under the gazebo, making sure everyone stayed dry... except for me. (But hey, this wasn't my day!) Their friends quickly became the MVPs of portrait time, following us through the gardens with umbrellas as we wandered between showers.
One unexpected bonus? The rain kept most visitors away, making Hershey Gardens feel incredibly peaceful. It honestly felt like we had the entire place to ourselves, which made such an intimate day feel even more personal.
Mike and Billie Kay proved that you don't need a big guest list or perfect weather to have an unforgettable wedding day. Sometimes the unexpected becomes part of the story, and honestly, I wouldn't have changed a thing. Their flexibility and willingness to go with the flow made for a beautiful afternoon.
